Maui, which is one of the islands in the Hawaiian island chain, is probably the most beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean. In addition to endless beautiful beaches you find wonderful jungles and the huge Haleakala-volcano crater. From there, at a height of 3 km, a surrealistic “moon scenery" becomes visible.

A guided mountain bike excursion from the top of the crater down to the sea shore is a wonderful but not entirely safe experience due to sudden storm winds. Every year several tourists get injured and there have even been deaths.
The snorkelling and diving waters around Lanai and Molokini are extremely clear and full of life, for instance manta rays and different kinds of sharks.
In our opinion the only negative thing about Maui is the high cost level. It is almost impossible to find affordable accommodation and in order to explore the island properly you need a rental car or motorbike.
